Job Summary:

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery to provide skilled nursing care in a fast-paced maternity environment. The RN will be responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care for mothers and newborns. This role requires OR circulation training and experience in Labor & Delivery, with strong communication and collaboration skills essential for success.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and procedures.
• Assist with OR circulation duties as required during deliveries.
• Support patients and families through education and emotional support.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Louisiana.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
• Operating Room (OR) circulation training and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if applicable.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Joint Commission Accredited facility.
• Additional certifications related to maternal and newborn care.
• Prior experience with high-volume birth centers (30-40 births per month).

Special Considerations:

• Must be eligible to work in Louisiana and affiliated with agencies on the Louisiana Department of Health Nurse Staffing Agencies List.
• Compliance with hospital and regulatory standards for Labor & Delivery nursing.
• Ability to work in a newly renovated Women's Health Center environment.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule in the Labor & Delivery department.
• Shift assignments based on department needs and staffing requirements.
