Job Description

Sioux Valley Family Health is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Data Entry Specialist to support the accurate and efficient entry, maintenance, and organization of healthcare and administrative information. The successful candidate will ensure that records are complete, accurate, and updated in a timely manner while maintaining strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with computer systems, and able to maintain a high level of accuracy while managing repetitive tasks and competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Enter patient, administrative, and operational information accurately into electronic systems and databases.
  • Review data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission.
  • Update existing records and correct errors or missing information.
  • Verify information against source documents and resolve discrepancies when identified.
  • Maintain organized electronic and, when applicable, paper records.
  • Perform routine data-quality checks and assist with record reconciliation.
  • Scan, upload, label, and organize documents according to established procedures.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and data summaries as requested.
  • Assist staff with retrieving and organizing information from internal systems.
  • Process information within established deadlines and workflow requirements.
  • Protect confidential patient and organizational information at all times.
  • Follow organizational policies and applicable privacy and security requirements.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors or other departments regarding incomplete or questionable information.
  • Assist with data cleanup, system updates, and other administrative projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous data entry, administrative, records management, or healthcare office experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and common office software.
  • Ability to learn electronic health records (EHR) and other computer-based systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office, clinic, hospital, or other healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records or practice-management systems.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, database systems, and document-management software.
  • Knowledge of healthcare privacy and confidentiality practices.
  • Strong typing and data-entry accuracy.

Work Environment

The Data Entry Specialist works primarily in an office or healthcare environment and spends significant time using computers and other office equipment. The position requires consistent attention to detail, professional communication, and careful handling of confidential information.
