Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Atlassian Product Owner to own the strategy, configuration, and continuous improvement of our Jira and Confluence platforms. You'll serve as the primary voice of the customer, translating business needs into a prioritized backlog, partnering with stakeholders, and ensuring platforms remain secure, performant, and aligned with organizational workflows.This hands-on role is embedded within a close-knit IT team. Beyond owning the Atlassian portfolio, you'll contribute to broader IT initiatives with structured opportunities to expand into automation, integration development, ITSM, cloud administration, and cybersecurity.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Ownership & StrategyOwn the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for Jira, Jira Service Management, and ConfluenceGather and refine requirements from stakeholders; translate into user stories with acceptance criteriaPrioritize enhancements, defects, and technical debt based on business value and organizational strategyDefine and report on KPIs including adoption rates, license utilization, and user satisfactionPlatform Administration & ConfigurationAdminister Jira projects, workflows, screens, custom fields, permissions, and notification schemesBuild and maintain Confluence spaces, templates, and permission structures supporting knowledge managementDevelop dashboards, JQL queries, and reports providing actionable visibilityImplement Jira automation rules to reduce manual effort and enforce consistencyManage marketplace apps, plugins, and coordinate platform upgrades with minimal disruptionGovernance, Security & ComplianceEstablish governance standards for project creation, workflows, and space architecture to prevent sprawlManage user provisioning, groups, and role-based access aligned with IAM processesEnsure configuration supports audit, retention, and regulatory requirementsMaintain system documentation, runbooks, and configuration change recordsStakeholder Engagement & EnablementAct as primary liaison between users, IT, and Atlassian supportFacilitate backlog refinement, demos, and stakeholder review sessionsDeliver training, office hours, and onboarding materials to drive adoptionProvide tier 2/3 support for escalated issuesBroader IT Team SupportContribute to IT initiatives including service desk escalations and infrastructure projectsParticipate in change advisory board reviews and incident responseRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience3+ years administering Atlassian Jira and Confluence in an enterprise environmentProficiency configuring Jira workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions independentlyStrong knowledge of JQL and dashboard/report constructionExperience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and product ownershipAbility to elicit requirements from non-technical stakeholders and create technical specificationsExcellent communication skills and documentation abilitiesStrong analytical skills with bias toward automation and process simplificationPreferred QualificationsAtlassian certifications (ACP-100, ACP-120, ACP-600)Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM)Jira Service Management and ITIL experience; ITIL v4 Foundation a plusServer/Data Center → Cloud migration experienceAtlassian REST APIs and scripting (Python, Groovy/ScriptRunner, PowerShell)Familiarity with Bitbucket, Bamboo, Opsgenie, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, GitHubSSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, and identity governance knowledgeExperience in regulated environments (NIST 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, SOX, HIPAA)Growth & Development OpportunitiesDevelopment pathways based on interest and business need:Automation & Integration Engineering - API development, ScriptRunner, workflow orchestrationCloud Administration - Atlassian Cloud, Microsoft 365/Azure, AWSIT Service Management - ITIL process design, incident/problem/change managementCybersecurity & Compliance - access governance, audit support, security controlsData & Reporting - Power BI, Tableau, advanced analytics
